Named after the French for the area of ancient (and modern) Greece Boeotia. It is the general location for many Greek legends, the Argonauts are from this area.

Ferdinand Cayeux by René Cayeux introduced and registered 1932
Named after the French for the area of ancient (and modern) Greece Boeotia. It is the general location for many Greek legends, the Argonauts are from this area.
René Cayeux’s (Ferdinand’s  son) name is attached to Esclarmonde and Séraphîta because Ferdinand retired from the business (but continued to hybridise) in 1938, with René taking over day to day management. He introduced and registered his father’s irises after this point but did not breed any irises himself
