Esclarmonde

Ferdinand Cayeux by René Cayeux introduced  and registered 1947
The name comes from an opera and its title Character by French composer Jules Massenet. It tells of the love between the sorceress and empress Esclarmonde and the Knight Roland.
Signed Ltd Edition Prints  (Unframed and without Mount) now available of four of the beautiful Ferdinand Cayeux Historic Iris collection. Watercolours Commissioned by grower Ben Lawn of Chilthorne Domer.
René Cayeux’s (Ferdinand’s  son) name is attached to Esclarmonde and Séraphîta because Ferdinand retired from the business (but continued to hybridise) in 1938, with René taking over day to day management. He introduced and registered his father’s irises after this point but did not breed any irises himself.
